Panasonic Lumix G85 Best Vlogging Camera For 2020
The Panasonic Lumix G85 now the G85 is a Micro Four-Thirds camera and it’s mainly targeted for the audience who are into vlogging and filmmaking. I will be talking mostly about the video quality of this camera.
Build Quality
First, let’s talk about the body talking about the build quality Lumix G85 it is extremely well built it’s one of the best Mirrorless cameras that I’ve used in terms of build quality it’s even weather-resistant so the build quality I have no issues even the grip is very good nowadays small cameras don’t have a good grip but that’s not the issue with this.
One there’s also an articulating screen which is great for all the vloggers out there overall the body the buttons are very well built even the menu system it’s very easy to use whenever I use a new camera system I find it difficult to get adjusted but this time with the Panasonic G85 it was very easy to use so overall I give it 5 on 5 when it comes to build quality and the body.
Video Quality
Now let’s talk about the video quality talking about the video this Panasonic Lumix G85 4k camera can shoot 4k 30fps and 1080p 60fps the best thing about this camera is it can shoot video for unlimited time what I mean is if your SD card is of supposing 64gb it can shoot complete 64gb in one take you don’t have to take multiple videos and I love this about this camera.
Panasonic Lumix G85 4k Mirrorless Camera
Talking about the Panasonic Lumix G85 4k video I am in love with the 4k video quality and I’m so much into it I did not shoot 1080p at all the 1080p video looks great but the 4k video is extremely sharp the color science the image quality the dynamic range is very very good.
I love the sharpness now there are many color profiles the standard one I think the contrast is a bit too much so what I do is I dial in a negative contrast or you can use cine like D sinner like V and then you can post-process to get better colors but overall the video quality is amazing. so again in terms of video, it gets five-on-five I have no complaints.
Video Stabilization
Talking about video one thing that is very crucial in vlogging cameras is stabilization and this Mirrorless camera has the best stabilization. it also has an electronic stabilizer which cuts off the corners but again it’s an option you can use I prefer to keep the electronic stabilizer off and only use the optical stabilizer and I found it very useful while I was walking.
I think for a vlogging camera stabilization of this kind is very very amazing I love the stabilization so much I would actually rate it six out of five but that’s not the option I have I would rate it five one five the focusing is quick I have found no issues but the thing is when you’re using continuous autofocus whilst filming I found it is hunting sometimes but still what I do is I focus on the subject then I switch to manual focus so there is no focus hunting.
I can understand for a vlogging camera this can be a problem but if you know how to use manual focusing nicely that issue can actually be solved so in terms of focusing I would rate it four out of five four because it’s quick but not five just because it keeps on hunting.
Now the camera is very easy to use as I said before but to take a step ahead there is a mobile application you can use with the camera and that is so useful like I haven’t seen an application that is so easy to use and works perfectly you can change your camera settings you can adjust your focus you’re literally handling your camera without touching your camera and I found the application to be super useful and I used it every time.
Talking about vlogging I would buy this camera any day for the price it is available. obviously focusing is a bit of an issue but I am comfortable with using manual focus if you are looking for a camera for filmmaking that can shoot 4k and you’re tight on a budget this camera is what you should get.
